In the past ten years, Zhuhai has not only participated in the construction of "Dawan district on rail", but also moved towards the goal of "rail transit center on the West Bank of the Pearl River Estuary".


After a decade of hard work, Zhuhai airport is about to open the era of "double terminal", and the construction of the main channel of Gaolan Port with a capacity of 200000 tons continues to advance.


At present, Zhuhai is paying close attention to the planning and construction of three strategic channels, namely, the Shenzhen China channel connecting line, the West extension line of Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge, and the urban rail loop line. Relying on the full elements of "sea, land and air rail", Zhuhai is upgrading its transportation infrastructure in an all-round way, striving to build a multi-level, hub type and network-based comprehensive three-dimensional transportation system, and pressing the "fast forward key" for the construction of a national comprehensive transportation hub.

Facing the rare opportunity of traffic construction, Zhuhai has continuously optimized the urban development pattern, further widened the urban development framework and strengthened the urban functions. During the 13th Five Year Plan period, Zhuhai promoted the completion and opening of new tunnels of Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge, Honghe bridge, Jinqin express line and Banzhangshan tunnel, forming a "three horizontal and five vertical" regional road grid Bureau.

After the price of the city's regular bus routes was reduced to 1 yuan in 2018, Zhuhai continued to increase public transport investment, so that more citizens can get a better sense of gain and happiness through efficient and economic intensive travel.

"The fourteenth five year plan" of comprehensive transportation system in Guangdong Province proposes to cultivate Zhuhai and other regional hub airports and strengthen the function of airport transportation hub. The hub airport will introduce rail transit, Zhuhai Jinwan airport plans to introduce Zhuhai Airport intercity railway and Guangfo River Zhuhai Intercity Railway (reserved).


Zhuhai Airport comprehensive transportation hub transfer center (GTC) is under construction. After it is put into operation, passengers can get directly to the terminal through transfer channel after leaving Zhuhai Airport Station.

According to the "14th five year plan" for the development of Zhuhai's comprehensive transportation system, the reconstruction and expansion project of Zhuhai airport, the airport comprehensive transportation hub, the airport international intelligent logistics park, the new tower project, the opening of international ports and international routes were completed, and the airport passenger transport support capacity was increased to 27.5 million passengers per year, It is planned to start the second runway expansion and the preliminary work of T3 terminal project.

In terms of improving the transportation facilities on land island, the reconstruction and expansion project of Xiangzhou port passenger terminal will be put into use next year. In the reconstruction and expansion project, the original berths of passenger ships at Xiangzhou port will be reconstructed. At the same time, three berths for 1000 GT passenger ships and one berth for 1000 GT ro ro passenger ships will be built, so that 11 500 ton high-speed passenger ships can be berthed in the port at the same time.


It is estimated that after the completion of the project, the annual passenger throughput of Xiangzhou port will reach 1.8 million. At that time, the traffic conditions and passenger service quality of the land island will be improved to ensure the safe and comfortable travel of island tourists and residents, and promote the economic development of the island.


In addition to Xiangzhou port, the construction of hardware facilities of Tangjia port land island passenger and freight terminal, which is located in the back ring area of high tech Zone, has been basically completed, and the conditions for opening Shenzhen route as soon as possible are expected. At that time, in addition to Hengqin passenger terminal and Jiuzhou passenger port, Zhuhai will add a terminal convenient to and from the East Bank of the Pearl River, further building a water passenger transport network in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.


With the improvement of airport and seaport facilities, Zhuhai is also promoting the construction of an efficient freight logistics service system.


The Zhuhai Airport International Intelligent Logistics Park under construction has the largest single multi-layer air cargo terminal in China. After being put into use, it will consolidate the foundation of Zhuhai aviation logistics business facilities, and link with Hong Kong and Macao airports to contribute to building Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay area into a world-class airport group.

In September this year, the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao logistics park project started in Hongwan area of Zhuhai. This unique logistics park close to shuangyixian highway port is expected to be fully operational in early 2024.

To the west, it will build an efficient transportation channel with Zhuhai airport, Zhuhai port and Zhuhai west station with the help of the upcoming Jinhai highway bridge and Huangmaohai cross sea channel; At the same time, it radiates to the west of Guangdong and forms the advantage of regional coordinated development by connecting infrastructure.

Strive to build a rail transit center on the West Bank of the Pearl River Estuary


The urban rail loop is one of the three strategic channels for Zhuhai to speed up planning and construction. In 2011, Guangzhou south railway station and Zhuhai north station were opened for operation. Zhuhai bid farewell to the history of no passenger railway with the help of urban rail transit. In 2020, Zhuhai's rail transit mileage will increase again, and the first phase of Zhuhai Zhuhai intercity will be put into operation, and Guangzhou Zhuhai intercity will continue to extend westward, connecting Gongbei, Wanchai, Hengqin and other ports. According to the plan, the scale of Zhuhai railway network will reach 117.8 km at the end of the 14th five year plan.
